The latest thread facelift is a minimal invasive procedure and that is the reason it is gaining popularity. It has very little downtime risk and one can go back to social life immediately and in six hours can even wash their face.
A thread facelift, also known as a suture lift or stitch lift, is a non-surgical alternative to having a surgical face or neck lift. It uses threads, which are specialised suture material, to lift the skin of the face to a more youthful and favourable position. It can be done with much less downtime, discomfort, and risk than a surgical procedure.
This technique of thread facelift has been developed over recent years
when surgeons began to look for simple, safe and effective techniques
to counteract the sagging of the soft tissues of the face caused by
ageing. They successfully developed a way of using fine but strong, suture material placed in the subcutaneous fat just beneath the skin
in a procedure that is minimally invasive.
Who can get this facelift?
Age is not a criteria here.Since it is a simple lunch-time procedure and when done by experts, has no side effects, even young men and women can opt for it. “When youngsters lose weight very fast they end up with loose skin and this can be taken care of, some youngsters have loose skin on their arms — that too can be lifted. Young mothers with loose post-delivery tummy also come for this treatment.
In their 30s —
Eyebrow lifts, forehead lift, subtle breast lift, arm lift.
In their 40s —
Crow’s feet or laughter lines, neck (threads work well in neck tightening and getting rid of the folds on the neck, jawline), buttocks, stomach.
In their 50s —
Drooping corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds, laughlines), hips, love handles.
What is the procedure of thread facelift?
It uses multiple, hair-thin needles that have fine threads dipped in bio stem cell liquid, inside them. These needles are inserted into a layer of the skin one-by-one and then pulled out together smoothly, leaving the fine thread inside the layers of your skin.
This induces fibroblast and promotes collagen production and literally lifts skin. The thread is gradually absorbed into the skin.
Thread facelifts can be performed with or without intravenous sedation. Although, the procedure is not painful, some people may elect to have intravenous sedation if they would rather not experience or remember the procedure.
The first step in a thread lift is to determine the areas to be treated and the direction of the lift required. The direction of lift is determined by pulling back the skin, seeing what looks natural and rejuvenated, and then marking with a surgical marker the intended direction of pull.
Once the areas to be treated are marked, local anaesthetic is injected into the area. The local anaesthetic has two purposes. Firstly, and most obviously, the local anaesthetic numbs the area where the threads will be placed. Secondly, there is some adrenaline within the local anaesthetic which acts to constrict the local blood vessels and therefore reduce the chance of bruising.
The threads are then passed through the hairline or behind the ear (depending on the area to be treated) towards the area to be lifted. The threads are passed just under the skin with a long needle. They are then used to pull the skin backwards towards the hairline and produce lift.
Is the procedure painfull?
No your face is anaesthetised with local anaesthesia so you don’t feel any pain.
When does the effect visible?
Much of effect is visible immediately after the procedure but full effect appears after 2 to 3 weeks .As new collagen is formed along the threads the effect lasts for many months.
How does this minimally invasive procedure compare with traditional face-lifting techniques?
The standard or open facelift is not a minor procedure. It has many variations which all have in common certain features: the incisions are scars are relatively long, the skin is separated from the underlying tissue and the redundant excess skin is excised.
The changes in facial appearance are usually quite obvious and sometimes dramatic. There are potential serious complications, which although uncommon, do occur. A general anaesthetic is usually required. Thread lifting by comparison is a minimally invasive procedure requiring small, unobvious incisions.
The skin and underlying soft tissues are elevated by the threads which are anchored into strong tissue (fascia) beneath the skin in the sideburn, area where the small nicks are hidden by the hair, and to the fascia in the deep crease behind the ear. Rather than the tight and sometimes unnatural look produced by an open facelift, the change in appearance with the Thread Lift is significant but subtle. It is more likely to draw comments such as, ‘How well you look!’, than to produce questions about what you might have done surgically.
In other words, you still look like yourself because the tissues have been repositioned to where they were some years earlier.
The effect of lifting can be enhanced over the years to combat the continuous ageing process by simply adding further stitches, as you wish.
In addition facial fillers can be used along with thread lift to enhance your beauty.
